That’s it the best news is that the rain stopped in the Boston area. Sorry if elsewhere the weather got worse but I’m celebrating local!
Making Clean Water Accessible
June 19, 2009People Making a Difference: Bob Hildreth and Lisa Ballantine. These two innovators, working independently, provide cheap, effective filters that make polluted water potable. You don’t have to go far to find places that you can’t drink the water. Considering that the earth has a lot of water and the technology to ensure it is clean is not expensive… this issue should not be problem that it is. Individuals can have an impact here.
Right Whale, Making a Comeback

Breathe a Little Easier

Hard numbers show that the slowing economy has given the environment some breathing room. Carbon emissions are down and some environmentally-damaging oil extraction projects have been put on hold. Plus, the economic stimulus package includes clean energy programs for longer term benefits.
In my opinion, if we (and by we I mean the government) would spend a lot more on new energy research and a lot less on legacy industry, everyone would be breathing a little easier. More on that in another post.
